Greenhouse Gas Targets Announcement for DOD

Greenhouse Gas Targets Announcement for DOD

The Department of Defense (DoD) announced today that it will reduce greenhouse gas emissions from non-combat activities 34 percent by 2020.  The department set the target in keeping with a recent executive order signed by President Obama that seeks to have the federal government lead the country by example through improved energy and environmental performance.

Today's announcement is part of a broader effort by DoD to improve its energy security. The target for DoD includes the department's more than 300,000 buildings and 160,000 fleet vehicles. Buildings and fleet vehicles account for about one quarter of DoD's energy consumption but nearly 40 percent of its greenhouse gas emissions.

In addition to reducing the demand for energy at its facilities, the department is shifting to more reliance on renewable energy sources. Many installations are already well underway with energy-saving improvements.

The target exempts tactical vehicles such as aircraft, ships and armored vehicles that directly support the war fighter. Reducing the energy demands of combat activities is a major focus of the department's energy security strategy, however.

At a Senate hearing earlier this week, Dorothy Robyn, the deputy under secretary of defense for installations and environment, testified that the military's heavy reliance on fossil fuels creates significant risks and costs at a tactical and strategic level.

"Unleashing war fighters from the tether of fuel and reducing [military] installations' dependence on a costly and potentially fragile power grid," said Robyn, "will not simply enhance the environment, it will significantly improve our mission effectiveness."

Members of the news media should contact Lt. Cmdr. Wendy L. Snyder at wendy.snyder@osd.mil with any additional questions about this release.

Calling on all Arkansawyers, Seriously consider the following..

Last night, as I attended an Arkansas Progress and Americans for Prosperity State of the Union gathering... I learned that our now Gov. Beebe inherited over $900M in surplus funds, less than four [4] years later, there is only about $45M in this account which he wants uncontrolled access to,.. I question strongly,

Where has this money has gone??
What has it been spent on??
Why was it necessary to spend it??

In short, I believe the Governor and our legislature needs to give the citizens an accounting of where, what project and why this large sum of money was drained off for or disappeared to.  Why was it not spent on the basic necessities of infrastructure improvements, education and social programs since there does not appear to be any evidence of such..

I call on all Arkansawyers, Concerned Citizens, Tea Party members and anyone alarmed by this fiscal irresponsibility to hold the Arkansas Representatives feet to the fire..

Seriously consider do we need to re-elect a governor who appears to be such a spendthrift, who sits back and allows out Federal Representatives to plunge our State further into debt to the Federal government since Arkansas presently owes $227B for Unemployment Benefits with a state short fall for the new proposed Health Care Program of $100B minimum per year, who stated through his assistants that he did not have ANY say in whether the ruinous Health Care Bill was passed through the House and Senate when other Governors were being very vocal about the impact to their State's budgets from the unfunded mandates, and the list goes on..

EVERY Democrat in the State needs to SERIOUSLY consider what their basic values are:
if you are an individual who has been a Democrat all your life because your family was, etc, I can strongly assure you, that was my situation,...
but the Democratic Party of my father and grandfather IS NOT!!  the party of today.. they have completely forgotten the basic roots of the party founding so it is impossible for me, An Arkansas Native McClellan, to continue to forward ideals which are contrary to the founding principals of our Constitution and Bill of Rights.. I call on all "yella dog" Democrats in the State of Arkansas to do as I have done, look to the personal values of the candidate, not the Party.. we must take back out country, one State at a time..

Support my efforts and those of many other like minded individuals by joining an activist group, organizing activist training, going to a local school board, county board or town council meeting,.. in short become involved,.. your voice is only one voice but you will be speaking for a hundred others who do not understand how important this involvement is..

Berry announces retirementin 2011, cites health concerns

U.S. Rep. Marion Berry announced his retirement Monday morning, saying he is at "perfect peace" with his decision to leave office and return to his farm in Arkansas.
Berry, 67, won the seat in 1996 and has held it since. He ran unopposed in 2008.
Berry had told staff members and friends on Sunday that he planned to announce his retirement, and had offered hints over the past week that he was reconsidering his bid for an eighth term.
Berry made his official announcement Monday in an e-mail statement:
“Since 1997, the people of the First Congressional District of Arkansas have entrusted me to serve them in Washington. It has been an honor I have never taken for granted and for their support I will be eternally grateful. After much prayer and consideration, I have decided it is time for me to return home to Arkansas. The people deserve a representative who has the ability to rise to the numerous challenges that face our state and our nation. As a lifelong farmer, time has taken its toll on my health and I am no longer able to serve the district with the vitality I once possessed. Therefore, I have decided not to seek reelection in 2010. I am at perfect peace with this decision and look forward to returning to the farm and my home state of Arkansas.”
Berry had repeatedly said he had no plans to retire, but he fueled speculation last week when he told a radio interviewer asking about his re-election plans that “nothing is certain in this world but death.”
“There has not been this much turmoil in Arkansas politics in a long time,” Berry told Little Rock radio station KUAR. “I would be afraid to predict anything. I think in the next couple months you could see all kinds of stuff coming down the pike.”
During his time in Congress, Berry served on the House Agriculture Committee, the Budget Committee and in 2003 he was appointed to the House Appropriations Committee.
Fellow Democratic congressman Mike Ross praised Berry and wished him well.
“I am committed to working with Marion on the issues important to Arkansas for the remainder of this year,” Ross said.
He is the second Arkansas congressman to announce this month that he was retiring. Earlier, Democratic Rep. Vic Snyder said he would not seek an eighth term representing the 2nd District in central Arkansas.
Berry’s departure from the 1st Congressional District seat, which has been held by Democrats since Reconstruction, throws open what is thought by political analysts to be a potentially crowded field for both the May primary and November general elections.
It was unclear who would run for Berry’s seat, but several Democrats from east Arkansas have been floated as potential candidates. They include state Rep. Keith Ingram of West Memphis, former state Democratic Party Chairman Jason Willett of Jonesboro and state Sen. Robert Thompson of Paragould.
One potential candidate suggested he will not pursue the seat. In a statement in which he praised Berry as an outstanding leader and a "valued mentor and inspiration," Arkansas Attorney General Dustin McDaniel reiterated his intention to seek reelection to his current office.
"With multiple open congressional seats, Arkansas politics is sure to be very interesting this year," McDaniel wrote. "I love serving Arkansas as our Attorney General, and I am hoping to be re-elected to a second term. Of course, the First Congressional District is my home. My family has been in Lawrence and Craighead Counties for many generations. In the coming days, many good people will consider making a run for this seat. I look forward to talking to the candidates and ultimately supporting one of them. However, today, my thoughts are with Marion and his family,"

I, for one question what his true motive are.. is it because he knows he would be facing a very tough election in 2010??  Also, If he "retires" he saves his benefits from Congress...  ;=)

NRCC meddling in Arkansas District 2 Congressional Race AGAIN!!

I am a daughter of a well known Arkansas political family who is closely working with an AR2 Congressional Campaign that has just learned of the Fact the National Republican Congressional Caucus [NRCC] is meddling the primary congressional race in fund-raising, favoring one candidate over the other persons who are declared candidates,  I find this behavior very onerous and egregious since it appears the National GOP has chosen the outcome of the primary long before the date of the primary election which is May 18th.  The Republican Party of Arkansas [RPA] has stayed neutral as to the primary race so why can't the national level keep their long Pinocchio nose out of the local level .. all they are doing is riling up and angering the people of Arkansas by the appearance of telling us what person we are supposed to elect to the office,.. We are not illiterate, ignorant or stupid.  and definitely don't appreciate outside persons telling us what we are supposed to do and think!!

I call on the National GOP and especially the NRCC to "butt out" of Arkansas politics!! We are very tired of the "establishment" dictating to us what we should decide.  If you are going to hold a fundraiser, the monies raised should be EQUALLY divided between all candidates for the 2nd District or for whatever race you focus on.  This favoritism you are showing is symptomatic of the reason why independents DON'T  TRUST the establishment,  Have you not learned anything from NY 23 race??  or from the fact that Scott Brown came from behind to win because he was able to distance himself from the mainstream of the GOP with the help of many persons from across the nation not just Massachusetts!!

Their heir apparent is Tim Griffin, who is a Karl Rove protege, a person who was very involved in the Florida Vote caging of 2004, the person who claims to be an Arkansawyer but was not born in the State of Arkansas, which is a basic requirement.. and many more actions which bring into question his reasons for coming to Arkansas in the first place,..  this is not the first time the National organization has interfered in this race..  there was earlier fund-raising interferences back in November and December..

I call on all TPP and any activists willing to Call Rep John Boehner: 202-225-6205, Rep Pete Sessions: 202-225-2231, Rep Eric Cantor: 202-225-2815 - Leaders of the NRCC - to help me in telling them to stay out of Arkansas affairs until after the primary..

It's better to be paralyzed from the neck down, than to be paralyzed from the neck up!

It's better to be paralyzed from the neck down, than to be paralyzed from the neck up!

Dr. Charles Krauthammer

Dr. Krauthammer is on Fox News. He is an M.D. And a lawyer and is paralyzed from the neck down.  A friend went to hear Char les Krauthammer.  He listened with 25 others in a closed room.  What he says here, is NOT 2nd-hand but 1st.

The ramifications are staggering for us, our children and their children.

Last Monday was a profound evening, Dr. Charles Krauthammer spoke to the Center for the American Experiment. He is a brilliant intellectual, seasoned & articulate.  He is forthright and careful in his analysis, and never resorts to emotions or personal insults..  He is NOT a fear monger nor an extremist in his comments and views.  He is a fiscal conservative, and has received a Pulitzer Prize for writing.  He is a frequent contributor to Fox News and writes weekly for the Washington Post.

The entire room was held spellbound during his talk.  I have summarized his comments, as we are living in uncharted waters economically and internationally.
If you feel like forwarding this to those who are open minded and have not drunk the Kool-Aid, feel free.

Summary of his comments:

1.  Mr. Obama is a very intellectual, charming individual.  He is not to be underestimated.  He is a cool customer who doesn't show his emotions.  It's very hard to know what's behind the mask.  The taking down of the  Clinton  dynasty was an amazing accomplishment.  The Clinton's still do not understand what hit them. Obama was in the perfect place at the perfect time.

2.  Obama has political skills comparable to Reagan and Clinton.  He has a way of making you think he's on your side, agreeing with your position, while doing the opposite.  Pay no attention to what he SAYS; rather, watch what he DOES!

3.  Obama has a ruthless quest for power.  He did not come to  Washington to make something out of himself, but rather to change everything, including dismantling capitalism.  He can't be straight-forward on his ambitions, as the public would not go along. He has a heavy hand, and wants to level the playing field with income redistribution and punishment to the achievers of society.  He would like to model the USA to Great Britain or Canada.

4.  His three main goals are to control ENERGY, PUBLIC EDUCATION, and NATIONAL HEALTHCARE by the Federal government.  He doesn't care about the auto or financial services industries, but got them as an early bonus. The cap and trade will add costs to everything and stifle growth.  Paying for FREE college education is his goal. Most scary is his healthcare program, because if you make it FREE and add 46,000,000 people to a Medicare-type single-payer system, the costs will go through the roof.  The only way to control costs is with massive RATIONING of services, like in Canada.  God forbid!

5.  He has surrounded himself with mostly far-left academic types.  No one around him has ever even run a candy store.  But they are going to try and run the auto, financial, banking and other industries.  This obviously can't work in the long run.  Obama is not a socialist; rather he's a far-left secular progressive bent on nothing short of revolution. He ran as a moderate, but will govern from the hard left.  Again, watch what he does, not what he says.

6.  Obama does not really see himself as President of the United States, but more as a ruler over the world.  He sees himself above it all, trying to orchestrate & coordinate various countries and their agendas.  He sees moral equivalency in all cultures.  His apology tour in Germany  and  England  was a prime example of how he sees  America  , as an imperialist nation that has been arrogant, rather than a great noble nation that has at times made errors.  This is the first President ever who has chastised our allies and appeased our enemies!

7.  He is now handing out goodies.  He hopes that the bill (and pain) will not come due until after he is re-elected in 2012
[God forbid!].  He would like to blame all problems on Bush from the past, and hopefully his successor in the future.  He has a huge ego, and Dr. Krauthammer believes he is a narcissist.

8.  Republicans are in the wilderness for a while, but will emerge strong.  Republicans are pining for another Reagan, but there will never be another like him.  Krauthammer believes Mitt Romney, Tim Pawlenty & Bobby Jindahl (except for his terrible speech in February) are the future of the party.  Newt Gingrich is brilliant, but has baggage.  Sarah Palin is sincere and intelligent, but needs to really be seriously boning up on facts and info if she is to be a serious candidate in the future.  We need to return to the party of lower taxes, smaller government, personal responsibility, strong national defense, and state's rights.

9.  The current level of spending is irresponsible and outrageous.  We are spending trillions that we don't have.  This could lead to hyperinflation, depression or worse.  No country has ever spent themselves into prosperity.  The media is giving Obama, Reid and Pelosi a pass because they love their agenda.  But eventually the bill will come due and people will realize the huge bailouts didn't work, nor will the stimulus package.  These were trillion-dollar payoffs to Obama's allies, unions and the Congress to placate the left, so he can get support for #4 above..

10.  The election was over in mid-September when Lehman brothers failed, fear and panic swept in, we had an unpopular President, and the war was grinding on indefinitely without a clear outcome.  The people are in pain, and the mantra of change caused people to act emotionally.  Any Dem would have won this election; it was surprising it was as close as it was.

11.  In 2012, if the unemployment rate is over 10%, Republicans will be swept back into power.  If it's under 8%, the Dems continue to roll. If it's between 8-10%, it will be a dogfight.  It will all be about the economy.  I hope this gets you really thinking about what's
happening in Washington and Congress.  There is a left-wing revolution going on, according to Krauthammer, and he encourages us to keep the faith and join the loyal resistance.  The work will be hard, but we're right on most issues and can reclaim our country, before it's far too late.

Do yourself a long term favor, send this to all who will listen to an intelligent assessment of the big picture..  All our futures and children's futures depend on our good understanding of what is really going on in DC, and our action pursuant to that understanding!! It really IS up to each of us to take individual action!!  Start with educating your friends and neighbors!!!

Wurzelbacher v. Jones-Kelley, et al. | Judicial Watch AKA Joe the Plumber

Wurzelbacher v. Jones-Kelley, et al. | Judicial Watch

Wurzelbacher v. Jones-Kelley, et al.

On October 12, 2008, Samuel Joseph Wurzelbacher was in his yard playing football with his son when Barack Obama and his campaign entourage approached, filming Mr. Obama's interactions with the public. As a result, Mr. Wurzelbacher, an employee of a small plumbing business, was able to ask then-Presidential candidate Obama about the impact of his tax policy on small business owners. The exchange resulted in widespread media attention and Mr. Wurzelbacher was referenced in the third Presidential debate as "Joe the Plumber."
As a result of his interaction with Mr. Obama, three officials of the State of Ohio instructed state employees to access confidential government databases for information regarding Mr. Wurzelbacher. A subsequent investigation by the state's Inspector General's office concluded that there was "no legitimate agency function or purpose for checking on [Mr. Wurzelbacher's] name through the [confidential databases] or for authorizing these searches," and on this basis Judicial Watch agreed to represent Mr. Wurzelbacher in a civil suit claiming that the searches were a violation of his constitutional rights.

The leftist Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now (ACORN) and its affiliated organizations have been the subject of great controversy. Concerns have been raised about fraudulent voter registrations, intimidation tactics, involvement in the housing market meltdown, and a partnership with U.S. Census Bureau. Most importantly, Barack Obama has been closely linked to the organization. Judicial Watch is on the front lines investigating ACORN's activities through the use of such tools as the Freedom of Information Act.
